Kikithespunkymunky is Baaaaack! Rethinking, Repurposing, Recreating, DIYing, and Sharing: Embroidery Hoops n Fabric Window Covering
The window next to my computer in the office lets in a lot of Texas heat in the summer, so now that it's fall (but will be summer in Texas for the next couple of months lol), I decided to come up with a window covering. And without going out and buying anything to complete the project as usuual...The window is an odd shape and I didn't feel like cutting and hemming fabric to fit, so I remembered an idea I saw on Pinterest many a time, using embroidery hoops (of which I have a collection, imagine!) and lace. I decided to use scrap fabric instead of lace because I want to keep the heat/sun out. I was planning to connect the hoops together somehow after I had them arranged in the window how I wanted and make a 'screen', but instead I adjusted them and 'wedged' them in. They're not hard to remove when I want more light or if it's rainy outside, right nice feature. Instead of the lace idea I saw, I used a bag my hammock came in that I was never going to use; a ripped embroidered pillow that I didn't feel like repairing; and the back of a vintage pleather jacket (thrifted for .50). I'm frugal like that:) Voila.....
